The article does not reflect on key aspects in the issue. State-Govts do
not have much power and West Bengal has been under much fiscal
discrimination throughout. The decision to allow select MNCs to operate
on the basis of the technology factor was taken by the left front as a
stop-gap arrangement basically.
As far as democracy in the state is concerned, it is better than in the
rest of the country...primarily because the rural sections are both
economically better and more literate. Of course we have a bunch of
capitalist goebbelian newspapers working for 'gimmicks based politics'
of opponents like the TMC.
The election commission never finds anything abnormal in the state
...and it is always peaceful ...elections or no elections.
