[Marxism] Couple of quick upbeat Idaho notes
[Friday]
Initially, didn't feel good at all this morning -- maybe, among other
things, getting up too early -- but I responded to that by pulling on my
hiking boots, long pants, inclusive shirt and fetching my widebrimmed Akubra
[Australian] cattleman's hat. [Got to stay out of the direct Sun with Lupus,
at least according to the medics who have more taboos in this context than
the Church has mortal and venial sins.] And then, for the first time in
almost a year, Maria and Josie and our Shelty [Hunter] and I traveled up the
first leg of the trail that I traditionally take into the Hills. All told,
today as a starter, it was about 450 yards up and 450 yards down. A couple
of weeks ago, we had had several days of rain and snow -- and then came
several days of much rain [and some snow] earlier this week. Wild flowers
are out, sage green, wild wheat grass looks great. Interesting animal
tracks -- coyotes, bobcats et al. Feeling pretty good.

In our Gray Hole, the ghosts often dance in the junipers and sage, on the
game trails, in the tributary canyons with the thick red maples, and on the
high windy ridges -- and they dance from within the very essence of our own
inner being. They do this especially when the bright night moon shines down
on the clean white snow that covers the valley and its surroundings. Then
it is as bright as day -- but in an always soft and mysterious and
remembering way. [Hunter Bear]
