Palestinian Prisoners Inside an Israeli Jail on Hunger Strike

Head of the Palestinian prisoners' club, Issa Qaraqea stated on
Wednesday that Palestinians detained inside the Israeli jail of
Kadumim are still going on an open-ended hunger-strike since Saturday.

Qaraqea told reporters "the prisoners" are determined to resume the
hunger strike that was launched on Saturday and their health
condition is deteriorating but the Israeli jails' administration
doesn't seem to care about their conditions.

"Qaraqea said that the prisoners had launched a hunger strike as
protest against their "unbearable and inhumane detention conditions,"
but said that the Israeli jails' administration refuses to abide by
their demands.

"The prisoners are held for long periods of times in solitary
confinement, the prisons lack from urgent and necessary medical care
as well as the lack of hygiene and of food, although we went through
the legal procedures the jails' administration is still not
responding," he said.

Qaraqea said that the detention conditions inside the Kadumim jail
are similar to the other Israeli jails and detention camps, saying
that the prisoners are not allowed family visits and are submitted to
inhumane practices such as strip-searching and physical abuse.
