[Marxism] Question on Alienation & Anxiety

Greetings, Arlyn.  I will reply some to your question on the subject of OCD.
 OCD, is not really a disease itself, but a grouping of symptoms that some
people suffer from.  So it shares with major depression and schizophrenia, a
diverse and entangled grouping of causes and manifestations of how symptoms
present.  Both environment, biology, and previous disease or physical mishap
of some form or another all go into the cauldron of why OCD symptoms occur.

Stress as a causative factor of OCD is both physical and psychological in
composition.  Environmental stress tends to make OCD symptoms much worse in
those effected. But, it is widely believed that actual physical assault to
the basal ganglia is the major root causative factor to the arrival of the
psychological symptoms, and physical ones, too.  It is widely believed that
strep viruses in childhood are most often the major cause that sets off an
auto immune attack on the body, as the body resists the strep bug.  But
there are other things that cause these sysmptoms to arrise, too.  Things
like mold toxins, or other environentally distributed toxins in our society.
 Pesticides for one example.

So, we can see a multi causative grouping of factors that effect both the
arrival of symptoms, and the severity of them.  And since the strep bug tags
onto flus, colds, and allergy reactions, things like carpet in the houses,
roaches, danders, molds, large congregations of children (schools and
daycares), faulty architecture and constructions standards, car and
industrila pollution, and so on... all can go on to really cause OCD.

Capitalist medicine is incapable of really dealing much with such an issue,
beyond its usual approach of throwing pills at the problem, and blaming
'genetic predisposition' and so forth for the problem.  It expands some from
this approach just a little as usual, also by focusing almost totally on
research into the auto-immune response portion of the problem, and not the
overall environmental component of it.

I hope this has helped some.  I am not a great authority on this subject
whcih also branches out into the areas of tic disorders, 'hyperactivity' and
conduct disorders, behavioral disabilities, and much more.  All of course,
which have some relation to stress, too.  Both physical and psychological
stressors. Our speedup society has a major role in how these symptoms come
about, and how they are played out by those effected.  But these symptoms
arrise in many people that have had some level of medical assault on their
bodies while children. We all have, but sdome were assaulted in worse ways
than others.  Take farm worker children for example.

I have two questions regarding the relationship
between Alienation and Anxiety (incl. anxiety related
diseases, such as OCD, or perhaps eating disorders?)
on a social level:  1) What is the relationship
between the two; and 2) have there been any books
written on the topic by Marxists?

I would sincerely appreciate any information anyone
has on this topic; you have been very helpful before.

Thanks for your posts on my prior question about
Maoism and thanks in advance for your help on this
one.
