RE: [Marxism] more on Nader
Paul Bunyan refers us to a site that refers to the assertion by this
Michigan group that socialists are traitors for calling for a US
withdrawal. This claim is either intellectually dishonest or droolingly
naïve. Nader calls for US withdrawal.
As is obvious to anyone familiar with the history of the Left, the
nature of power is such that anyone can call themselves anything they
want. That's even more true on the internet. Invariably, someone can
then refer to a "socialist" site that says such-and-such, or--in this
case--an "Independence Party of Michigan" (whatever the hell that is).
Nobody knows who the hell these people are putting up these sites.
If you're on any Green lists, you get spammed repeatedly by the
Anybody-But-Bush Bozos. In fact, I got one of these not that long ago
that was proportedly from an Anybody-But-Bush site by a long-exposed FBI
informant. Like those Russian dolls, isnt' it? Welcome to the
electronic age.
There are plenty of honest criticisms to be made of Nader, but I'm
increasingly convinced that a lot of these more stupid slams represent
nothing but a kind of backhanded Democratic spam. ...like the Socialist
Party guy arguing that support for the SP is both more radical than
support for Nader and more practical since it won't seriously hurt the
Democrats.
The Kerry campaign has earned all the hurting we can give it and more.
The Nader club may have splinters. Fine, put on gloves before using it.
But don't sit around waiting for a bigger or purer club to drop in your
lap.
Solidarity!
