 You're preaching to the converted.   I have read Szasz's book.


I think it's fair to say that psychiatry has  been a  criminal
discipline from its beginnnings. For example, its raison d'etre in the
U.S. during slavery was essentially to control disobedeint slaves. In
europe during WW2, psychiatrists were responsible for killing
many thousants of so-called mentally defectives. Psychiatrists had
also been amongsts the more enthusiatic proponents of
sterializations from the 30s to 60s.

 It just that it has amassed power within the last 20 or so years,
which has enabled it to become more corrupt.

I also think that it is fraudulent discipline in the sense that does not
treat an specific ailment, rather it pretends that it does. This
distinguishes it from many of the other medical disciplines, who
under capitalism, are also corrupt, yet which actually serve a
purpose in society beyond their social control role.
