Re: [Marxism] Who Will Do the Science This Millennium?

At the expense of what? Treating their 'mental distress'?

Its ties to the drug makers is undeniable, yet if you're suggesting
that everything else peddled by psychiatry is kosher you have no
clue what you're talking about.

The DSM is the main diagnostic manual within psychiatry. The
DSM doesn't base illnesses on biological markers, but on
symptoms. And the reason for this is simple: the psychiatric
industry isn't confident enough to claim in a manual as important
for them as the DSM that mental illnesses can be identified. So
instead, they argue that the source of mental illness "is believed to
be biological" or that "studies suggest a biological cause" or that
the "exact cause will soon be known".

I am basically paraphrasing the actual DSM with these quotes.
I've also read enough from actual psychiatrists to back up my
claim.

Psychiatry, unlike, say, neurology, bases its diagnoses on
whatever the h*ll it feels like categorizing, not any identifiable
problem in an individual's body. To me that makes it a fraud
science.

What is been categorized as mental illnesses are behaviours that
break with societal norms. If you 've seen some of the ridiculous
diagnoses that psychitry has come up with over the years, what I'm
saying would resonate.
