I say:

Good point. And if I may add one more thing. When someone does change the 
subject line, please include the previous thread name. For example:

Re: Surge in Iraqi Resistance--was "Ramifications of Spanish Troop Withdrawal"

That way, subscribers will know when and where the new thread began. It's 
especially helpful for those who are reading the archives and want to go back a 
little further to pick up the odd bits and pieces of the previous thread to 
fill in the background for the new thread discussion.
