I will read Segev's book. I think your quotes show evidence of crassness and
opportunism on the part of some Zionists. I don't think they prove active
collaboration. The crassness, cynicism and opportunism are bad enough without
being exaggerated into outright collaboration. Any argument that posits that
Jews were in any way getting a legitimate "punishment' from Hitler (for
assiimilating or for any other reason) is obscene and repugnant to me.

So I may have "stepped in it" part of the way, but not as far as you assume.
