[Marxism] Two spirit talk in NY
Apparently this was bounced and then was cut from the resent
message:
Come on down to the Center, 208 West 13 St., NY, NY, to find
out about the Two-Spirit[1] tradition that existed within
many traditional Native American communities.
Thursday, April 8 at 7:00 PM
Two Spirits Are Better Than One: A Workshop Exploring the
Two Spirit Tradition Within the Native American Experience.
Facilitator Harlan Pruden, a member of the Woodland's Cree
Nation of Northeastern Alberta, Canada, examines the rich
history of gender diversity that existed in many Native
American societies. Topics to be discussed include an
overview of native American spirituality/religion that gives
rise to the Two Spirit Tradition; what is Two Spirit
Tradition; the roles and expectations fulfilled by Two
Spirit peoples and its effects on the Two Spirit tradition.
Produced in collaboration with Union Theological Seminary,
and funded in part from the New York Council for the
Humanities.
