Even if one knew nothing of the character of ANSWER or UfPJ, the DEMAND for
the rally was "BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW! END COLONIAL OCCUPATION from IRAQ
to PALESTINE and EVERYWHERE." This is hardly a demand that John Kerry, or
even the most liberal Democrat like Dennis Kucinich, could support. That
doesn't mean that every speaker, or every banner that someone brought, or
every person who came, had exactly the same position, or that some (or even
many) don't support Kerry. Of course not. But to describe the character of
the demonstrations as organized by ANSWER and UfPJ as "explicitly or
tacitly" supporting Kerry is just bizarre. If ANSWER or UfPJ wanted to
support Kerry, the demand for the rally would have been "Get the UN involved
and gradually withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq over the next five years and
all support to Israel in its struggle with Palestinian terrorism." I don't
believe I saw that slogan on the podium.
