[Marxism] On Walter L.'s posting re: Madrid bombings
I agree with Walter L. when he expects NOTHING good to come out from
the bombings.
The "who benefits?" question points to the Spanish government.
And they will make sure they will benefit.
To begin with, there is this filthy management of news, where they
are blaming the whole thing on ETA even though it is already more
than obvious that ETA had as much to do with the bombings as my late
aunt Rosita.
That the Spanish "left" has accompanied this unbelievable act of
journalistic terrorism shows to which depths can the proper digestion
of a newly born Empire bring the consciousness of progressives and
workers in the First World. Spanish intelligence ("Hello. Am I
talking to the Intelligence Service?" / "Huh?" / "Yes, I am") will
keep the anti-ETA flame alive until the elections are over. After
this takes place, they will open up the lid and discover that the
attack had an Islamic origin.
Thus, the action may serve the Spanish right more than twice:
(a) may make sure that the PP is the sheriff's horse at the race this
Sunday (don't know if "el caballo del comisario" has translation to
English: in horse races in the Pampa region, it was usual that the
horse owned by the sheriff won every time it appeared on the track)
(b) may justify more encroachment of civil rights, particularly in
the Basque Country, and last but not least,
(c) may make sure that once the PP keeps solidly in place it will be
allowed to enforce still more restrictive immigration laws ("How can
you trust these Morocco immigrants? How can you tell each from
another? Don't they look all the same? Can't you see that there are
TERRORISTS concealed among these dark, filthy, stinking newcomers?")
