Re: [Marxism] Statement of the Communist Party of Haiti

The statement by the Communist Party of Haiti was clear. The revolutionaries,
communists and abolitionists within the American Union are not clear about
what is taking place and the content of the new era we are in.

The mass of people in motion in Haiti, the most poverty stricken and aids
inflicted are the communist class. This is not a superfluous mass of people
occupying a "social space" during the period of transition from agriculture
to
industrial relations. This is not you army of unemployed - Engels spoke of,
following the expansion/contraction logic during the various quantitative
expansion
of the industrial system.

Some comrades simply point to Mr. Aristide as a bourgeois nationalists
without understanding the social process. Others continue to warn of the
dander of
"bourgeois nationalism." This is an error inexcusable for insurgent Marxists.

This is the communist class.

Therefore the practical policy of their leaders cannot be assessed on the
basis of ideological formulas. The communist class world wide is more than
less
outside the system - active engagement with the productive forces, and is
more
than less, incapable of selling its labor for means to reproduce itself.

This is a new era of proletarian revolution. The Venezuela masses inaugurated
the era of proletarian revolution in the new century.

Communist revolution requires the existence of a communist class. The
communist class is not an ideological category or concept, but rather a
material
category of people based on their relationship to production and property.
The
communist class - poverty stricken masses in Haiti, are outside the bourgeois
system of production whose inner connection is capital as it reproduces
itself -
worker and capitalists.

The new world wide technological regime calls forth social revolution and
validates the genius of Marx. "Society moves in class antagonism" and this
meaning is deeper - more profound, than the struggle over wages or the
struggle
within society between the two classes that make up the basic components of
the
system of production.

The serf did not and could not overthrow feudalism. Something else occurred
and this "something else" is looking us in the face. In the rising epoch of
the
bourgeoisie this "something else" was a new qualitative ingredient called
capital - worker and bourgeoisie. Today it is the communist class and
speculative
capitalists - both detached from the means of production and existing
external to one another, sharing no connecting bond. These two elements in
the social
process move in antagonism. The bond that has connected workers to
capitalists - for an entire historical epoch, has been broken, severed on the
basis of
the advance in the material power of production - the new technological
regime.

Who amongst us can deny the brilliance of Marx?

Here is the living dialectic of society. Here is the living meaning of
antagonism. Not a simple struggle for a partial reform but a social movement
to
compel society to meet the needs of a class locked out of social production.
Antagonism is not to be understood as a form of contradiction. Contradiction
passes
into antagonism or antagonism replaces contradiction. The contradiction "is
gone" in relationship to communist class and speculative capital. It has been
replaced by antagonism. The inner connection is forever severed. Antagonism
replaces contradiction

Here is the new qualitative ingredient that is the compulsion for society to
leap to a new political basis. Here is the social revolution Marx spoke of.
Here is the communist class.

He who fights on the side of the communist class is an abolitionist and not
bourgeois nationalist. It is true that the form of any social movement lags
behinds its inner compulsion and in the process of reformulation, the form of
the
social movement leaps forward.

Did not our beloved Vladimir Lenin face this process in the form of the
Second International? Here is the battle the mighty Soviet proletariat faced
at
each quantitative stage of development of its productive forces. (Not the
subjective Stalin period). All the classes in society turn in on one another
in the
initial phases of the social struggle. That is why the communists - Marxists,
step forward in history as leader, teacher and educator.

Vladimir Lenin instructed us on our task. How will the workers know if we do
not tell them? How can we tell them if we refuse to let go of the ideology
and
politics of an era gone by? The Haitian masses need food, clothing, shelter
and education. Our great country could provide this to them free. The rats in
our food warehouses eat more than the whole country of Haiti. We throw away
from our plates enough food to feed their entire country.

Then there is Chavez. Chavez is an abolitionists being driven by the
objective logic of social formations - material classes, and being driven to
the
barricades. To scream bourgeois nationalists and ideological categories and
miss
the class assertion is to abandoned Marxism altogether.

The danger is not bourgeois nationalism on the world stage, but rather
chauvinism and lack of class politics in the imperial centers. In the
American Union
this is expressed as an inability to grasp our abolitionists' history and
destiny.
