[Marxism] Not anger, not at all

Craig B. has replied to my posting today re: the Western "left" (or
even the Western _left_) and Iraq.

He explains that one should not be angry at that left, because the
tasks ahead are immense.

Just to make it clear: I am not angry at all.

It is not my mood to blame entire classes or nations (whatever some
may believe). I would yes point out responsibilities, which is an
entirely different thing. For example, I feel that the French
working class (and to a certain extent, the Italian working class)
has a good deal of responsibility in the events that took place in
Europe after 1945.

But I would not blame the American working class for its own slowness
to understand the actual things at stake. Empires are forged to
generate that slowness. A good digestion tends to make lazy minds,
as some Latin American said of us Argentineans half a century ago.

However, it is a serious problem (a serious _global_ problem) that
the movement agains the Iraq war has not gained enough momentum to
make its slanderers turn pale before they charge against it with such
idiocies as "you're supporting people who kills Americans". The day
the logical answer ("no. it is you who works for those who send
Americans to death") becomes common sense, then the Iraqis shall have
won the war.

If I were the Iraqi resistance I would be drafting plans for a
"Solidarity Committee with the American People" such as the
institution founded by Ho Chi Minh during the VN war. But I am not
the Iraqi resistance. They certainly know better than me.
