RE: [Marxism] Re.: What is the so-called "middle class"?
During the height of US war on Nicaragua--when the media and Democrats
were scampering away from the issue in a vain effort to save the local
post office, I recall a particularly courageous program from Moyers.
His "Secret Government: the Constitution in Crisis" runs about hour and
a half, roughly divided between: one of the best rundowns of CIA
activities and the Cold War I've every seen; coverage of the war in
Nicaragua; and, a direct challenge to the constitutionality and
legitimacy of the Reagan administration. Simply put, he pulled no
punches. The transcript is posted at
<http://www.addictedtowar.com/bill.moyers.htm>.
I'm sure that a show like opened more people to radical possibilities in
that short time than I had done in a lifetime of trying. Credit where
it's due.
His subsequent coverage of the economic impact of the
Reagan-Bush-Clinton-Bushette administration has been no less gutsy,
whatever arguments we might have with some of the criteria brought to
bear in the social analysis.
Solidarity!
Mark L.
