While going through my files, I stumbled across an article written by the
late Howard Adams in 1985. Adams was a Canadian Indian who was strongly
committed to Marxism, as should be obvious from the article. Unfortunately,
he bends the stick too far in the opposite direction in my opinion, giving
credence to the arguments of the Maoist RCP that were put forward in an
article in Ward's anthology. A much more nuanced analysis is required, one
that takes into account the perspective of people like Mariategui, whose
synthesis of Incan and Marxist thought represented a breakthrough.
