Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan asked from Iraqi Shiite Leader Abdelaziz
al Hakim to prevent Kurds from seizing the oil regions in Northern
Iraq. Al Hakim who cancelled all his program through Wednesday, met
only PM Erdogan later in the day.


At their talk. Erdogan told Hakim that they appreciated the
cold-blooded and facilitating behavior of the political movement led
by Al Hakim and asked from him to prevent the efforts of Kurds to
seize the oil regions in Northern Iraq.

Erdogan told Al Hakim, ?Kurds must be prevented from playing with
fire. We said that the future of Iraq must be shaped by Iraqis but if
Iraq begins being divided, the neighbors will intervene. Syria and
Iran share this idea too. Our priority is the freedom and unity of
Iraq.?
