True, people are open to hearing what's wrong with the system to a point,
Les.     But the problem is that people really still believe that the US's
electoral system is the ONLY viable method to bring about change.      And
"Leftists" are some of the worst in promoting that delusion, that it be
truly the case.

What is now needed before any Left electoral movement can be of any use, is
to actually build a non-electoral Movement of some sort that challenges the
system outside the electoral arena..      Then, and only then, should
Socialists use an electoral campaign to try to build the Mass Movement.
Trying to build electoral parties in isolation from a genuine mass movement
of some sort, cannot be successful at building anything other than
candidatures for nice people, who then go on in personal isolation.    A
trap.

In a truly more open multi-party legislative system, perhaps an electoral
approach might hold some meaning.     But in a dictatorship of 2 corporate
parties, electorialism offers absolutely nothing for activists, other than
'spinning their wheels in mud'.    Very little real publicity for socialist
ideas can leak out in these campaigns by 3rd parties.    Better to realize
that, and stop giving creedance to the idea that The US electoralSystem has
even an iota of democracy to it.

In my view Tony is precisely wrong.

Now is an optimum time to build an
anti-capitalist campaign.

People are generally open to explanations of why
all these problems are occuring in their lives
and in the world and those of us who know the
root of the problems is in the capitalist system
itself ought to be educating others about it.

Both demonstations and electoral campaigns should
be used.
