In my view Tony is precisely wrong.
Now is an optimum time to build an
anti-capitalist campaign.
People are generally open to explanations of why
all these problems are occuring in their lives
and in the world and those of us who know the
root of the problems is in the capitalist system
itself ought to be educating others about it.
Both demonstations and electoral campaigns should
be used.
Lets not have a repeat of the Vietnam war days
when even the socialist parties did not talk
about capitalism at mass rallies and
demonstrations and thereby had no basis for
mobilizing people after the war ended.
I remember specifically the giant demonstration
and rally in the spring of 1967 in New York where
about 17 different groups had speakers at the
rally.
Only the rep from the Puerto Rican Independence
Movement talked about the capitalist system being
the root cause of the Vietnam war.
Is this knowledge to be kept to ourselves because
some are afraid the masses are not ready to hear
anti-capitalist analysis?
I have not found this to be the case in my
election campaign where in spite of almost no
money I have had sizable votes based on issues
that challenge the capitalist system.
In my recent campaign I had much higher vote %
than greens who ran as "Progressives" and did not
challenge the system(11.4% to 6% for a green
candidate in an adjoining district who spent 10
times what I did) $500 vs $5000+. And my
progressive Democratic Party opponent spent over
$112,000.
Don't underestimate the intelligence of the mass
of people WHEN they are presented with clear
explanations and proposals.
The favorite of my 7 key issues was "Let the
Iraqi's reorganize their own society" Not the US
and not the UN or NATO
I am for an all out anti-capitalist campaign by
someone or some party and I don't understand why
lots of "Marxists" don't support the same.
