Re: [Marxism] Nader is to be Applauded for Departing the Green Party

I don't feel or see a lot of INTERNAL anticapitalist energy coming into play
in the US over the next year. Really, trying to concentrate on a weakened
Green electoral campaign will be about as distracting from the real struggle
as going out and pushing to beat George Bush is. Everybody is familiar
with how these national elections suck vitality out of the Mass Movements,
of any kind.

But this coming year, the sheer aggressiveness world wide of the Bush
Administration will make 2004 unlike other national elections of the past.
ANSWER's March 20 actions called to oppose the war and occupation
actually probably will be a defining event. If the Muslim/ Arab world
continues to deliver real loses to the US troops and its allies, the world
wide antiwar movement will tend to remobilize itself into the force it was
pre-invasion. The world is losing patience with theovert and obvious
continual dishonesty of US motives in the Middle East.

The short of it is, better to spend time and energy trying to go against the
US current of immobility and demoralization on the Left electoral front, and
to spend all effort to build the March 20 actions and Antiwar Movement as a
whole. This is internationalism, and not just a vote. If you do
vote, do it without much concern. Hey, that's the American working
class way, anyway! This certainly is not the time for building an
anti-capitalist electoral campaign. That is spinnning one's wheels in
mud.
