Re: [Marxism] Nader is to be Applauded for Departing the Green Party

Tony,

Good points,

I have been wavering on the "Green Party"
question but I do not consider the Green Party Us
or the Green Party USA(Yes their are still 2
national green parties plus several independent
state parties and many independent local parties.

It is a myth created by GPUS founders(formerly
ASGP) that they are THE Green Party and that all
greens belong to it.

Now the GPUS is not yet a Capitalist Party in my
opinion but that is what the most
organizationally influential members want(A
reformist CapitalistParty that can become like
the old Roosevelt Democratic Party).

I am currently operating on the premise that a
struggle against these pro-capitalist in the GPUS
from inside is warranted until and unless they
solidify their power.

The GPUSA is in its majority anti-capitalist
which is why the reformists such as David Cobb
hate it and misrepresent it.

The reality is that both the GPUSA and GPUS
affiliated state parties have mostly working
class members, but their are generally not class
conscious.

I will give it till the GPUS sponsored
Presidential nominating convention before I
consider dropping green party involvement.

At present I see no alternative.

The Socialist Party is actually promoting a
reformist candidate who appears less radical than
Nader according to what I have read of his
platform.

Two years ago I tried to interest working class
activists in forming a mass based workers party
but there were few takers.

My personal experience are that the masses of
oppressed are looking for a real alternative to
the Dems and Reps and do not see the current
green parties as an alternative(if they even know
about them).

Also the so-called Labor Party is more
pro-Capitalist than the GPUS and won't even run
candidates against the Democrats.

So convince me I should drop green party building
and give me an alternative.

Nader is not it. He has an anti-labor history,
says he would have supported UN intervention in
Iraq, and runs his organizations from the top
down(ie he is no democrat with a little d).

Nader is a pro capitalist reformer, only against
"abuses" of the system not against the system
itself.
