Salon's Scott Rosenberg had some links in a recent entry of his blog how
one can create *permanent* URLs for NYT article:

Probably the least cumbersome way to get the above mentioned URLs is to
copy the *current* URL of a NYT article into Aaron Swartz's "New York
Times Link Generator":
http://nytimes.blogspace.com/genlink
The only downside is that the newly created addresses tend to be very
long. But then there are services like
http://makeashorterlink.com
and
http://tinyurl.com
