David:
Yeah baby. He was an early and nutty libertarian. He hated unions, but he
supported women after a fashion. He loved writing about putting political
movements together, but they were usually conspiracies writ large, like in
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Farnhams Freehold is probably his most
political book and it sucks, a plodding paeon to one man's holding onto
what's his in a bleak, conquered future.
Nevertheless, Podkayne of Mars is great stuff, The Door Into Summer a
classic and Citizen of the Galaxy, wherein I met the concept of divorcing
one's parents, won me to science fiction for decades. For general sci-fi
swashbuckling Glory Road is great
If you want to read left wing science fiction, try Mother of Demons, Eric
Flint, Baen Books, in print. Info at amazon.
