[Marxism] RE: US SWP participation in UK anti-war protests

While it's true that in general, the first job of progressives is to direct
fire at their OWN ruling class, and while it is also true that the British
ruling class is no doubt looking after its own interests in Iraq, still it
is indisputible that the British would not have been attacking Iraq by
themselves had the U.S. not chosen to do so. Furthermore, given the weaker
state of the antiwar movement and the left in general in the U.S. compared
to Britain, British comrades do a tremendous service by directing their fire
at Bush as well as Blair. The U.S. media were filled with coverage of the
British demo in a way not even remotely matched by their coverage of recent
demos (e.g., Oct. 25) here, and that is a GOOD thing as far as the impact it
has on the American people, ESPECIALLY because of all the anti-Bush posters
showing Americans how much their country's foreign policy (and "leaders")
are hated in even our closest ally.
