From Michael Hardt
(For some reason, Hardt thought that my query came from both me and Henwood.)
Dear Louis and Doug,
I see what you mean, that that paragraph is unclear. Toni often says things
in interviews that come out wrong, sometimes a matter of his attempts at
irony that don't come off. Anyway, I can't say what he had in mind here. As
you both suggest, however, he certainly is not supporting the US war on
Iraq. One need only read what he's published and other interviews since the
war started to clarify that, if anyone has doubts.
It can clear things up, however, to read the entire interview in Clarin.

I found it quite funny, actually. The journalist attacks Toni from the
beginning and Toni gets angry right away. They insult each other back and
forth. It ends abruptly when the journalist suggests that the
antiglobalization militants are just like the Sept 11 terrorists and Toni
walks away. And then the journalist gave a headline to the interview as if
Toni were insulting the entire country: Negri says Argentina can only
follow its bourgeoisie (which Toni doesn't say in the interview). So, it
seems some of the confusion might result from maliciousness of the
journalist, who I presume was just as angry as Toni was.
Anyway, sorry not to be able to interpret any better than that.
yours, Michael
