You know Walter, just as there is criticism from the left and criticism from
the right, there is support from the left and support from the right. The WSJ
editorial is support from the extreme right-- lift the travel ban, note: their
position is not remove the embargo and all discriminatory practices, their
position is limited to easing travel restrictions. And why? to support the
anti-revolutionary forces, the Cuban Walesa, of course.
No, I don't think we should circulate this as a progressive step.
There are a number of agricultural associations that have spoken in favor of
eliminating the embargo, rather than just travel restrictions, for the purposes
of trade. If you want to circulate something by a "mainstream," "conservative,"
group, that's my recommendation. It has the virtue, at least, of being upfront
about the reason-- dollars and cents.
