Zug Island is the name of an island, I think manmade, but not sure, in the
Detroit River where Great Lakes Steel had its blast furnace and coking
operations.
The river itself is the site of many industrial suburbs, Ecorse, Wyandotte,
River Rouge, built to take advantage or because of the proximity of auto
plants and the shipping access provided by the broad channel of the river
and the Great Lakes.
Worked there, coke ovens and the furnace, in my raw youth. Never complained
about the heat.
The heat is your friend.
