Re: Marx versus Engels?

The real difference between Marx and Engels was that Engels lived much
longer. Most of his reputation as the vulgar materialist comes from his
later years, when he was not only working without Marx, but probably was
at the age where subtlties become easier to sacrifice.
Best,

Disagree.
Organize the equivalent of the Second International - as an individual, and
then tell your story. You are organizing a body of humanity not familiar with
Marx theory grid or what is called the materialist conception of history.
Engels does not have a reputation as a vulgar materialist where I live but as
"the General." Lenin writes about Engels on insurrection - not Marx, in state
and revolution. There is no other source material for Marxism to assimilate
the theory of insurrection outside Marx and specially the writings of Engels.
This does not ignore the caution Marx wrote to him about the forces of the
Civil War in America based on specific battles.
A Marx comes along once every epoch. If this epochal Marx finds his "Engels"
- damn . . . this process becomes legend and historic - and is spoken of
though out the ages of mankind. There is nothing "vulgar" about Engels
materialism.
To discover the truth, give the workers Capital and then give them
"Anti-Durhing." We must never forget who we are talking to.
One proves their materialism in combat and there is not higher level of
combat on earth than insurrection.
Your reply to Anthony on the "western expansion" was excellent.
Enough for today because I am in violation, but we just "hollering" at each
other about good shit. Your writings on American history are impressive.
