Re: Of Decommissioning and Opportunism

The problem being that the DUP would love to see Sinn fein NOT 'administer
british rule' and instead rule the province themselves with the aid of their
clique of sectarian gangster mates, and the Tory party in power in London.
London has cancelled the (GFA) elections here twice already- probably 1) to
avoid sinn fein coming to power and 2) to avoid the DUP coming to power.
It seems crazy that the PIRA are decomissioning though. I can't see the
benefits of it, especially when the unionists still seem increasingly
opposed to powersharing and devolution of government, and the British have
not demilitarised in return. It is especially strange since it has been
conclusively and publicly documented in recent months (though of course
everyone with half a brain knew it already) that, for a LONG time, the Brits
colluded with sectarian loyalist death squads and the murder of a lot of
innocent people.
What do others think of the situation here in the north at the minute?

The Provisional Irish Republican Army completed a third act of
decommissioning this week, which the British government required
before it would call new elections in the North of Ireland. More
accurately, the PIRA's political wing, Sinn Féin, wanted its share
of seats on the Northern Ireland Executive so it could do its part in
administering British rule as it had done before the Executive was
suspended last year.
