Che in Canada
From Danny Schechter's blog this morning (no URL given):
NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. - She has her father's eyes, his original profession and
his politics. Aleida Guevara, the 42-year-old daughter of revolutionary icon
Che Guevara, concluded a two-week speaking tour of Canada over the weekend
with pointed criticism of American foreign policy, which she denounced as "a
crime" and scant but tender memories of her father, who was executed when
she was 6?
?Members of the Canadian Senate gave Guevara a sustained round of applause
last week when she appeared in the spectator gallery in Ottawa and several
posed for pictures with her afterward?.
?Guevara is working with lawyers from around the globe to stop the
commercial use of her father's image, which is used to market everything
from liquor to underwear. She's promoted her father's books and explored the
family roots in Ireland, of all places.?
