Re: re: Query
Always nice to hear from you Lou, and particularly appreciate the
invitation to revisit this subject.
The list has in the past debated and redebated oil, overproduction,
imperialism/nationalism, with mixed results I'm sure, but the discussion
was not declared dead and done and closed forever. Or is it just closed
to those with opposing views? I don't mean to sound so testy, but the
reference to the anti-war movement of my imagination requires a certain
response, in kind.
But I am a little surprised by the moderator's remarks since way back
when after the first series of big demonstrations a discussion was
entertained about going forward, and the moderator himself offered, as
number one, "No Democrats."
Anyway, I'm not here to grind a personal axe with the moderator. But
speaking of anti-war movements and imaginations, this one, the anti-war
movement would certainly benefit from that one, imagination, as opposed
to the pedestrian formulas it is taking over from past failures. I mean
is all that declared labor resistance to the war just imaginary, or is
it real? Or all those labor organization who have linked resistance to
the war to the oppositon to the Bush economic program a figment of
residual substance abuse? Are all those mayors and city councils, who
may actually be members of political parties, but who ARE NOT
presidential candidates, who have adopted measures against the war,
against the Patriot Act, imaginary? Why not get the real voices of the
real people to speak to the issues rather than a collection of
self-aggrandizing carnival barkers looking to separate some fools from
their money.
What's the matter with getting them? Not "big enough" names? This
aint about box office.
Hugs a bunch.
