Response Jim C: I first heard about this "hidden history" when I lived in
Europe and met a group of former Jewish partisans living in Germany; they
used to drink at a Gasthaus that I also used to drink at. They were mostly
communists and socialists who also told me about the forms of Zionist
collaboration with the nazis that Lenni Brenner documented so well in his
"Zionism in the Age of the Dictators" (available online), "The Wall"
(available online) and his "55 Documents of Zionist Collaboration With the
Nazis" (available by special order from Lenni) and that Raul Hilberg
documented in his "The Destruction of the European Jews" which also speaks
about various forms of resistance by Jewish partisans. Some of the work of
Yehuda Bauer also documents Jewish resistance as well as Zionist betrayal.

One of the concepts that these former Jewish partisans put across to me was
that when one lives under occupation by forces bent on one's extermination,
and when one sees one's own children starving while the children of the
occupiers live in relative comfort and security, on occupied lands, one's
own notions of who are the "innocents" and who are the "noncombatants"
changes dramatically.
