More on Ted Honderich
The Canadian/British philosopher, Ted Honderich is to deliver
a lecture, "Palestinian terrorism, morality, and Germany,"
at the University of Leipzig, October 19-20, 2003.
In this lecture, which can be found online at
(www.homepages.ucl.ac.uk/~uctytho/palestinegermanyfull.html
and in summary form at:
www.homepages.ucl.ac.uk/~uctytho/palestinegermanysummary.html),
Professor Honderich explicitly defends the right for the
Palestinians to engage in armed struggle including
acts that are often labeled terrorism, not excluding suicide
bombings. In this lecture he also answers the charge
that his position is anti-Semitic, a charge that was
made against Honderich by Brumlik, and
which led his German publisher, Suhrkamp Verlag,
that had been publishing the German edition of
his book *After the Terror* to suspend publication
of that book. (BTW Honderich has found a new
German publisher for his book, MelzerVerlag).
Professor Honderich's arguments concerning the
morality of terrorism would appear to be quite
relevant to the issues that were raised on this
list concerning Yoshie's views on
Palestinian solidarity.
BTW Professor Honderich provides an account
of the recent fate of his book *After the Terror*
in Germany, at:
