My god, isn't the former Yugoslavia the poster child for a total disaster,
an implosion of human solidarity? All sides, so far as I know, bear a huge
and equal share of the blame -- the USSR for stultifying even Yugo
socialism, the US for ostracizing it, and then, even more, all the supposed
"ethnic" groups for preserving and coddling their own particular extreme
heaps of bullshit. I suspect that somewhat more of the blame lies in the
Tito regime than we know, but still -- it depresses me to see people still
trying to defend any of the awful, blood-stained, murderous sides in this
disaster zone. What a human failure...
