Gaza attack on US convoy: update
Late news yesterday on the attack on the US 'diplomatic convoy' near Jabalya
camp in Gaza was that the Palestine Authority had arrested 7 people associated
with the Palestine Resistance Committees. (Someone had apparently gone around
calling the media, including Agence France-Presse, in the name of the PRC and
taking responsibility for it.) However, the real PRC issued a statement
disclaiming responsibility for the attack and vigorously objecting to the
'wrongful' arrests.
Meanwhile - and this surprised me! - according to Ha'aretz, an Israeli official
dismissed the arrests as a sham, issuing a statement that said that the people
arrested by the PA had nothing to do with the attack! So they have some other
spin they want to put on it, someone else they want to finger - but who? Or
maybe they just want it kept 'unsolved' and an open sore, as it were?
On the other hand, according to the Independent, at least some people on the
ground at Jabalya say the Israelis did it.
And today it seems to have dropped off the front pages entirely!
Too little information to speculate on, and too soon to think that it's 'gone
away' ...
