Re:terror

I don't understand why Yoshie gives so much weight to the Green Line, which
divides territory that is still being conquered by the Zionist settlers,
from the territories that they conquered in the 1948 war.
But Yoshie's basic ideas is utopian. Palestinians cannot demonstrate today
that Jews and Palestinians will be able to live together in the future,
because they CANNOT live together today, a fact which has been true ever
since the imperialist-sponsored Zionist occupation of Palestine in its
modern form began after World War II. Without the destruction of the
Israeli state and a government that will devote itself systematically to
ending the oppression of the Palestinians in all areas, Palestinians and
Jews cannot live together and will never be able to live together. Period.
The suicide bombings are a product of that fact and an expression of that
fact, and not a cause of it in any way, shape or form.
The human solidarity that Jews like Rachel Corrie and many others receive
from the Palestinians whenever they offer the same is sufficient proof of
what will become possible when the US-Israeli oppression of the Palestinians
has been overthrown. That solidarity will expand as Jewish solidarity with
the Palestinians expands.
It is wrong to demand that the Palestinians give up any aspect of their
struggle in order to show the Israeli Jews that the Palestinians mean them
no harm. This is to give ground the moral cover for all the imperialist
negotiations supposedly aimed at guaranteeing the "security" of the Israeli
Jews -- actually the regional strength of the Israeli state over the
Palestinians and other Arabs -- at the expense of the Palestinian people.
In my opinion, a small but growing number of Israelis are beginning to
realize, because the Palestinians do not stop fighting by any means they
consider necessary, that they cannot live with the Palestinians unless their
oppression is ended and that this cannot happen while the Israeli state
exists.
In that sense the Palestinian struggle, horrible bloodshed and all, is
teaching the Israeli Jews right now about the conditions in which it will be
possible for Palestinians and Jews to live together, something which is
ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE TODAY.
To ask Palestinians to prove by their actions to the Israeli Jews today
that coexistence between them is possible is to ask the Palestinians to
demonstrate a lie. They could not prove this even if they never detonated a
bomb or fired a shot. That would simply signal to the Israeli Jews that
THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT. This is the wrong message to send even to
workers and farmers who are being sucked into participating in a campaign of
imperialist-colonial conquest.
