Re: Israeli exceptionalism

Last comment on a truly futile discussion:

Yoshie quotes extensively from Trotsky's writings on terrorism while missing
completely the point-- at no point does Trotsky argue that there is a
pre-existing universal standard of conduct which, although established
formally by the bourgeoisie, should govern the action of revolutionists. On
the contrary, at every point, in every sentence, Trotsky is implicitly or
explicitly refuting that contention. At every point is sole concern is the
impact of tactics on the development of the social revolution, the tendency
for terrorist acts to substitute, inhibit, and disorganize concrete class
action.

Rules of war are no more a supra-class code of conduct than the UN is a
supra-class organization of nations, than the WTO is a supra-class
organization dedicated to expanding the opportunities for unencumbered
trade, than the US Constitution is a supra-class articulation of "natural
rights," than the International Court is a supra-class institution committed
to justice for all, no more than the Ten Commandments are universal
constants for moral behavior.
