Fw: John Sullivan

John Sullivan's funeral took place today at Canford
Crematorioun, at Westbury on Trim near Bristol. There was a
good turnout and from Revolutionary History Paul Flewers, Al
Richardson, Barry Buitekant, Ted Crawford and Clarence
Chrysostom came down from London while Bob Pitt was there as
well. It was very well done, a lady from the Humanists doing
the honours very well, there were 3 speakers, a fine singer
who sang Joe Hill and the reading of Rabbie Burns, "A man's
a man for a' that" by John's brother. Don Bateman was also
there with many others from Bristol. The Chilean people
there who had been much helped by the Sullivans in the days
of Chilean Solidarity put on a nice spread afterwards.
Enjoyable as it was to meet people like Will Fancy, whom I
had not seen since the 70s, I would rather that the event
had not had to occur. My heart goes out to Palmira, Alice
and Marcos. I shall miss him terribly, a Marxist of the
"fogey" tendency, a man with real wit and of deep
intelligence and culture.

Ted Crawford
