Hard to tell.
Or still another possibility, the attackers throught they were attacking an
Israeli military operation, not an American "whatever it was". Perhaps the
vehicles weren't clearly marked, or the attackers were too far away to see
whatever markings there were, and only knew they clearly were "outsiders"
and almost certainly (but evidently not) Israelis.
Lou has obviously been following the story a lot closer than I have; I
didn't realize the story was changing so rapidly. Very interesting indeed.
