RE: Was A Vote To Recall the PRI a Vote For Vicente Fox?
Tony Abdo's message is a good example of craven reformist worship at the
altar of bourgeois electoralism --especially if a Democrat is
officiating-- masquerading as ultraleft idiocy.
He condemns the California Greens for "Supporting a Republican funded
recall of a Democratic Party governor only months after his election."
Only months! Gee, don't these people have any respect for democratic
institutions?
Now, the charge doesn't happen to be true, it tells us nothing about the
greens, but it does tell us that Tony considers bourgeois democratic
elections, at least the flavor where some Democrat manages to fool the
majority of those voting to vote for him, to be sacrosanct.
Never mind that Gray Davis "forgot" to tell the voters that the state
faced the biggest budget deficit ever in its history, and that he was
going to solve it by savaging education, cutting back social programs,
and raising their taxes. Respect for bourgeois democracy requires the
working people of California to just sit and take getting shafted by
Gray Davis for three plus more years.
As far as Tony Abdo is concerned, people have no right to take
politicians that treats them with that kind of contempt and throw them
out on their asses.
Guess what, Tony? Not only do they have a right to, they did.
The Republicans, be it said for them, at least had the good sense to try
to align themselves with the sentiment of the overwhelming majority of
Californians who think Gray Davis is a bum, which is more than can be
said for the Democrats, the benighted union officialdom, and assorted
"progressives" and ultralefts like Tony Abdo.
Then comes the rest of Abdo's totally contemptible pimping for Gray
Davis and the Democrats. Accusing the Greens of being a cat's paw for
the Republicans. And to do so he dredges up some charge ... against a
party that calls itself Green in Mexico, and says, see, the Greens
really are spoilers for the Republicans.
Tony is really sore that his pal Gray Davis got tossed out with
yesterday's garbage, where he belongs, so sore that he doesn't stop to
consider for one second how this transparent frame-up amalgam is going
to expose HIM as a cat's paw for the Democrats.
