I have not had an irony bypass.  Baseball,however, is serious stuff, and
while I don't think there is a "meaning" to life, or a "supreme being,"  I
think the Yankees' 26 North American baseball championships come pretty
close, as doesJoe Rudi robbing Dennis Menke of a extra base-hit in the first
game of the 1972  Series.

As far as  Cleveland-Kaufmann article, I've read it before and yes I read it
again and yes I am aware that they argue that Hubbert was basically making a
lucky guess-- better to be lucky than good, said Joe Dimaggio-- it's the
"energy rate of return" I take exception to-- since energy for the
bourgeoisie exists only as a cost, a product, a commodity, consequently its
use value as an article is buried in its production and circulation as an
exchange value.  The explanation for the machinations of capital, and its
historical predicament, is in that production, that conflict between use
value and exchange value, owner and producer, capital and wage-labor.

Brother Melvin has pointed out that capital is running headlong into its
HISTORICAL barrier in production, and that historical barrier is the
self-devaluation essential, inherent in the accumulation process, in the
aggrandizement of surplus value, turning exchange value back to zero.
Brother Melvin has the sweet spot of his bat right on the bourgeoisies'
ball.  The historical barrier is social and not geological.
