Oddly, in Alex Callinicos'
little book called "Trotskyism" none of these experiences is discussed.
In the introduction Callinicos refers briefly to the experiences
outside Europe and teh USand regrets that he was unable to deal with
them because of lack of knowledge. The book was actually about
Trotskyist theory and was part of a series aimed at A-lewvel students
studying politics or sociology IIRC.
