No, actually a majority of those polled that the pollsters wanted to
count are for the recall, and support for Bustamante is down to 40 or
47% among Hispanics, depending on who you believe.

The Pew Hispanic Center poll done in the first half of September is
especially worth close reading, as it reveals a systematic divergence
between U.S.-born and naturalized Hispanic citizens.

But remember, these are all polls from which perhaps 1/2 of the Hispanic
population is excluded even in the very best of cases.

As for the broader issue you raise, if U.S. capitalism has the capacity
to absorb and assimilate all these folks, that is, of course, a
different situation than the one I present. I don't believe it.
