No, the reporters know better. They just want to keep their jobs, that's
all.
Freedom of the press belongs to those who own one. In the United States
today, the owners are overwhelmingly corporate Republican types, and
there's massive churn going on in newsrooms all across the country, with
experienced people being thrown out the window and miserable, ingnorant
Republican scribblers hired to replace them.
This isn't particularly new or surprising, and it comes in cycles. Some
clever bourgeois is going to make a few billion dollars creating a news
organization that is just a little less venal and dishonest than the
rest, as Ted Turner did in his day, during the days of "Teflon"
president Ronald Reagan.
