Re: Latest poll numbers for Camejo

A peculiar thing -- unlike previous Field polls, unless my memory is
playing tricks on me, there was no demographic breakout for Camejo,
although they did have it for the other three major candidates remaining
in the race. How meaningful that breakout would have been in Camejo's
case is doubtful. Given the small sample sizes involved, those numbers
are very unreliable -- for example of the 800+ people surveyed, actually
only 120 or so were Latinos; the size of the Black sample was about half
that.

Too bad, since that other poll you and I both wrote about a while ago showed
such a remarkably LOW support for Camejo among Latinos, which frankly I was
(and am) highly sceptical about (that is, I don't believe it is really is
low as that poll showed). Would have been interesting to see another
demographic breakout. Incidentally, are you SURE this rating is higher than
anything that was achieved during the Gubernatorial race? I was sure I
remembered numbers as high as 10%, although since one hears a lot of numbers
(e.g., Bay Area only numbers), I could certainly be wrong.

Bustamante's "unfavorable" ratings have gone up
past 50% and his favorable impression rating, which was never high, is
down to 34%.

That pretty much goes along with both his lackluster performance in the
debates, and his ads which have similarly bland. Very mild mannered pitch,
followed by a humble "That's why I'd like your vote" or something like that.
Compared to McClintock's ads or Schwarzenegger's ads, they are just
COMPLETELY ineffectual, like his campaign.

Frankly, the posture of the Democrats in this election is untenable.
Bustamante's position is that Davis should stay as governor and that's
why you should vote for Bustamante to replace Davis. It make no sense.

It makes no sense because that's not his position. His position is that the
recall is wrong and you should vote against it, but, since you have no
control over whether it will pass or fail, then of course you should vote
for a potential alternative to Davis, and choose him. The words that are
wrong in your sentence above are where you say "that's why you should vote
for Bustamante." He says no such thing; the two votes are completely
separate. Jeez, the guy's inept enough without you putting words in his
mouth. ;-)
