Good to see this is finally getting around. The two videos on that coup are
highly informative.

I noted Phil Fergusons comment on what would have happened in Chile with a
similar situation had developed. I just thought someone might post the link
(is there one?) to an article which appeared in Monthly Review (by Marta
Harnecker) last month. It was focussed on answering the apparent conundrum
around the (almost uniquely) positive role of the military in Venezuela as
opposed to other Latin American countries. I found it quite informative and
just shows how a concrete analysis of the situation is needed to avoid
making mistakes of generalisation.

I plan to get back to Ed's (very useful and worthwhile) post soonest.
