IRSCNA: 2003 Holiday Book Drive for INLA POWs

The IRSCNA would like to remind everyone about the Republican
Socialist Prisoners Educational Fund, which is the long name for our
annual holiday book drive for Irish National Liberation Army
Prisoners of War.

Every year the IRSCNA gathers books for INLA POWs, which are then
packaged and shipped to the POWs for the holidays. This tradition,
which spans more than a decade, has been responsible for enabling
INLA POWs to provide an excellent political education for themselves,
thereby giving them a stronger basis for political activism once
released.

While a wide variety of books are provided to the POWs, we are
especially interested in books and pamphlets dealing with the
following subjects: Irish history, history of other revolutionary
movements, Marxist theory (especially works by Marx, Engels, and
Connolly), biographies of leading socialist figures, Irish language
texts, sociology, political economy, Irish literature (especially
works by Irish republicans and socialists), etc.

Books do not have to be new, nor unmarked, so long as they are in
reasonably good shape, and we have long benefited from the
contribution and purchase of used books and pamphlets, which enable
us to provide more titles than would be the case if we relied solely
on new books. The prisoners cannot accept books in hardcover format,
so all books donated must be in PAPERBACK format.

Accordingly, we are making an appeal to you now. Please consider
dropping by a local new or used bookstore to purchase something for
the INLA POWs, or cull some works from your own bookshelves to donate.

We also appreciate monetary donations for the educational fund, since
the cost of shipping the books to the prisoners can be a significant
expense. Checks should be made out to "IRSCNA" or donate via PayPal

funds are for the RSPEF.

Please send your donations to this effort in time to reach us by no
later than 20 October 2003, so that they can be included in this
