RE: Camejo polling

The actual detailed survey reports can be downloaded from this page:

http://www.pewhispanic.org/index.jsp

Unlike the Field and other polls, this is an actually statistically
significant survey of the major ethnic groups; the Latino sample, for
example, was 600.

The most striking thing about Camejo's results was the whites, meaning
Anglos: 0.0% (they actually used that figure) which means that Camejo
had not one supporter among the 254 whites who were surveyed. His
strongest support was among Blacks (5%).

Another very interesting thing is that there are several major
statistically significant differences between Latinos who preferred to
do the survey in Spanish and those who preferred English. For example,
Bustamante was supported by 66% of Spanish speakers; but by 47% of
English speakers.

It was also interesting to me that about half the Latinos chose to do
the survey in Spanish, half in English. 92% of those who preferred
Spanish were naturalized citizens born abroad; 92% of those who
preferred English were born in the U.S.

I've heard that the Field Poll reports a much lower percentage of
Latinos preferring to answer in Spanish. At any rate, it shows that to
obtain an unbiased sample, polling must be done bilingually.
