Dear Profesors Soon and Baliunas,

Just dropping you a line to cheer you up after the global warming
embarrassment. I suspect that there is nothing but professional jealousy
at work here. You take somebody like that Michael Mann who has been
frittering away his time on computer simulations when all along Pieter
Brueghel's skating scenes could have confirmed that it is getting colder
not warmer. As Fox Mulder once said, "the truth is out there."

Don't worry too much about professional ramifications. I am sure that
you won't get canned from Harvard as long as President Lawrence Summers
continues to think that exporting pollution to the Third World is good
business. I would only warn you away from making rap records, in light
of what happened to Cornel West. Although I do think that some lyrics
come to mind:

Chillin' in the hood
Cause chillin' is good
Not warmin'--understood?
Got my 'tude
Got my SUV
Got my funding from the American Petroleum Institute (doesn't quite
rhyme with SUV, but you get the idea)
