Re: Re: Jose & Iraq/ Chickens come home to roost
Melivn has provided an excellent analysis of Malcolm's
speech and the historical conditions behind Malcolm's precise
choice and exacting use of words and phrases, and it is
historical content that alone clarifies these matters.
The historical context of the UN's role in Iraq is that
of administering sanctions that condemned the population to
immiseration. It was the "post war and the pre war" by another
means.
And the toll on population was/is horrific.
So, you want to make an implacable enemy for life, whose thoughts
will always be concerned with retaliation and payback?
Here's how: Make his or her children suffer. That will
guarantee payback somewhere along the line. Payback by the way
is just another way of saying 'chickens coming home to roost.'
